Addressing period poverty and campaigning for menstrual justice in Lebanon

What is

Period Poverty?

Lebanon’s deteriorating economic situation has seen huge increases in the prices of goods, and menstrual products have become unaffordable for many. Unlike other essential items, menstrual products don’t benefit from government subsidies.

We define period poverty as:

  • A lack of access to, or availability of varied options of safe and affordable period products
  • No access to a private and clean bathroom when you have your period
  • No safe space or a person to talk to about your concerns around your period
  • A lack of access to education about menstruation to better understand your body and availability of research to ensure proper menstrual health

Our Mission

is to break the silence and fight for menstrual justice.

Our work aims to tackle the challenges of period poverty faced by women, girls and people who menstruate in Lebanon.

No one should have to miss work or school because they cannot afford menstrual products.

No one should have to choose between basic necessities and menstrual items.

No one should endure shame or stigma around their period.

Accessible period care is a human right. PERIOD!
